Three parts in one volume, 8vo (230 x 150 mm). [10], 364 [recte 264, pp. 261-264 wrongly numbered 361-364); 22, [2]; 16 pp. Collation: a¹⁰ A-Q⁸; A-C⁴; A⁸. Woodcut decorative initials, head- and tail-pieces. Woodcut printer's device on title page featuring a view and the coat of arms (a lion rampant) of the city of Brescia. Ex libris of Gustav Tassoni on the front pastedown. Nicely bound in slightly later stiff vellum, gilt spine with four raised bands, panels with gilt fleurons within a double gilt frame, red sprinkled edges. Light browning, but a good, genuine copy. 

Second expanded edition, edited by Giovanni Battista Bacchi and dedicated to Lodovico Baitello (1586–1672), a nobleman, jurist, man of letters and politician from Brescia. Elia Capriolo, a magistrate in Lonato, vicar in Quinzano and podestà in Asola, is especially known for his 'Chronicle' of the city of Brescia, which first appeared in Brescia around 1505 and traces the town's history from its origins to the early Venetian period. The work was subsequently updated and translated into Italian by Patrizio Spini. Spini's translation was first published in Brescia in 1585. This new 1630 edition is an expanded vernacular version of the work, including supplementary books translated by Giacomo Maria Rossi from the author's Latin text, as well as additional historical materials. These include Cesare Anselmi's account of the Sack of Brescia in 1512.
