Two works in two volumes, 12mo, uniformly bound in early 19th-century green calf, spine with lettering piece and gilt initials (‘LSG'), yellow edges.

(122x67 mm): 276, [36] pp. Collation: A-N12. Printer's device on title page. Woodcut decorated initials, head- and tail-pieces. With 12 woodcut vignettes in text. Light damp stains, worm holes to ll. N10 and N11, minor losses to last leaf. Ownership's entry on title page partly inked out and dated 1752.

RARE ALDINE EDITION of Tasso's Rinaldo, issued and sold both separately as in this case (with title page bearing the Aldine anchor) and as part of the collected edition of Tasso' works Delle rime, et prose appeared between 1583 and 1585. The poem Rinaldo was composed by Tasso at the age of 18 and was first printed in 1562.

FIRST ILLUSTRATED EDITION of this poem on the seven days of creation composed by Tasso between 1592 and 1594, but left unfinished. The first two books had appeared in Venice in 1600, while the first edition in seven parts had been edited in Viterbo in 1607 by Angelo Ingegneri, who is also the author of the preface. The text of the present edition is based on that of the 1607 edition.
