12mo (143x76 mm). 59, [1: Reimprimatur] pp. Woodcut vignette on the title page depicting a young woman with a flower. Modern half leather with gilt title on the spine. Small hole on the the title page and following leaf affecting one letter of text, restoration to the lower inner margin of the first two pages of text, marginal stainining and browning, margins cut short, but overall a well-preserved copy.
Apparently unknown edition of a work by the poet Olimpo Alessandri da Sassoferrato, which was very successful and was reprinted several times with various changes. The oldest edition of which there is record, but of which no copies have survived to this day - a case that is also frequent for many of the subsequent editions - appeared in Venice in 1522 with the title Libro novo damore chiamato Olympia (Venice, 1522).
The date of this popular edition can be placed in the second half of the 17th century, between 1650 and 1691, years in which Longhi's activity as a printer in Bologna is documented.
