Dedication to the Most Illustrious and Most Reverend Abbot Don Gioacchino Mugnoz, in the form of a letter signed by Olivo Gabardi dated November 14, 1841. The short story “Un'ora a Carpi” is signed by the Florentine writer Isabella Rossi Gabardi Brocchi. She was one of the most sensitive and representative voices of nineteenth-century Italian culture. A poet and storyteller, she lived the spirit of the Risorgimento intensely, participating not only through her writing but also through her civic and cultural engagement. Intellectuals and patriots gathered in her Florentine salon, engaging in a lively dialogue that nourished her works with ideals and passion: even Verga sent her a copy of Primavera e altri racconti (1876). Her body of work ranges from poetry to moral and historical fiction, permeated by a deep religious sensibility and by ethical and family values.
