First edition in Italian, in the translation of Orazio Toscanella, of Torrentinus' Elucidarius, one of the earliest and most successful dictionary of classical history, geography, and mythology, first published in 1498. The Elucidarius alphabetically lists people, mythological figures, places, etc. from classical times, and was conceived as a source of information for poets and philologists. Toscanella's Italian version of the work was reprinted several time well into the 18th century.
